"Light" in English, "Nur" in Arabic, light is mentioned in the Holy Koran, in the Holy Bible, and in nearly all religions.
With warships heading to Libya and riots continuing in front of U.S. embassies, we must find a way for people of goodwill to restore calm and reason.
A candle in the window. It must be difficult to imagine why such an effort holds any validity. Yet, this symbol worked well twice before. A symbolic action, a candle in the window, was used to good effect in Poland in the '80s when Solidarity was placed under martial law, and again even more effectively in the Czech Velvet Revolution. At the very least the window light showed individuals that they were not alone.
